Drawing inspiration from her father’s artistic nature, Shirley had always loved drawing. However, coming from a traditional family, art was never seen as a feasible career option but that didn’t stop her! After experimenting with multiple mediums and taking her art seriously during the last few years, she gravitated towards pen ink artwork. Her tattoo style reflecting solid black contrast, different line weights and crosshatching slowly grew into something bold yet soft by use of realistic textures in her work. This made her work appear more distinct from other blackwork pieces and she is now a proud artist to say that no matter the subject matter, you always know that it was created by her, and that’s pretty cool!
